Name: Marlene Yeo

Title/Role:  Senior Pastor

About me: I am a type A personality personified.  I enjoy action and being  in the middle of God’s dream for His church of prayer, unity and the work of compassion. I am passionate about God’s presence and His kingdom coming and His will being done on the earth.  I enjoy being with people. Especially the ones God has called me to work with and to those I am called to care for.

Where I am from: I was born at the Chelsea Naval Hospital, Chelsea, Mass. 1952 raise in Groveland, Amesbury and Newburyport

Work/Ministry experiences: I have worked in multiple areas of ministry in the last 34 years but the majority of that time I served as a youth Pastor for 10 years, an Associate for 2 years, and have served as Lead Pastor at CCF Haverhill since it's founding in 2005.

I also am the Executive Director of Somebody Cares New England licensed under Dr. Doug Stringer Somebody Cares America/International. I serve on a number of committees in the city: Department of Child and Family Services on the greater Haverhill Children’s Fund Board , the Haverhill Community Violence Prevention Coalition and the Merrimack Valley Hospital “Community Health Benefit” committee. I served a 5 year term on the Northern Essex Community College Board of Trustees and a 2 year term on the Finance Committee.

How long have you been at CCF: since the formative stage of meeting as a cell group in my home studying the “City Impact” book by Dr. Daniel Bernard of Somebody Cares Tampa Bay, Florida

Tell me about your family: In 1970 I married retired police Lt. Harry Yeo, we have 3 adult children and 7 grandchildren.  I love to spend time with the family and take care of my home.  I love to decorate and have been told by many I have a gift for it and enjoy working in my yard.

I have traveled to over 13 countries with my amazing brother who has made it possible for me.

I have written the following books; “Where is God on Tuesday”, "He Cares For Me" and "He's Looking for a Donkey...To Ride Into Your City".   Several churches have used these books for bible study in preparing lay people for the ministry of compassion and outreach.

Heroes: Jesus  Christ,  Pastor Mike Servello, Sr. Pastor Mike Servello Jr., Dr. Doug Stringer, Pastor Rafael Najem, Pastor Jude Fouquier, the Apostle Paul, Joan of Arc and Count Zinzendorf founder of the Moravian prayer movement.

Favorite thing about Community Christian Fellowship Haverhill: the amazing staff that God put together as His “Dream Team” they are the most dedicated, loving, faithful group of men and women I have ever had the privilege of serving the Lord with.  I love the Jesus culture that God has created of prayer, worship, peace, laughter, love and the joy we have serving the least, the last, the lost and the little together.  I love seeing God capture the hearts of people, who were once shattered by sin, healing their brokenness and living a life that now honors the Lord and paying it forward to other broken people.

Other Favorites: I love worship that allows the congregation to express their passion for Jesus.  I have experience great freedom from the streams in the body that make glad the city of God. My favorite places of worship are IHOP, Kansas City, MO., Bethel Church, Redding, CA., JHOP Boston, Cambridge, MA., Redeemer Church, Utica, NY

Food: Middle Eastern food of all kinds

Music: Jesus Culture, IHOP web stream and CD’s

A Word from Pastor Marlene about her book "Where is God on Tuesdays?

For those of you who have asked, "How do I walk through the challenges of life and enter into the promises of God, while living in the reality of where I am today?"- I pray this book provides you with some answers to that profound question. This book is for those of you who want to make a difference in this crazy world, but find yourselves limited in resources, time and the skills necessary to accomplish what the Lord has called you to do. This book is about my journey as an ordinary person fulfilling the extraordinary purposes of God in my generation. I have learned to press through the Tuesdays when it feels like God is a galaxy away by trusting that He will do what He has promised and finish what He has started in my life. My hope for you, as you read this book, is that you will be encouraged to press into His destiny for you, regardless of the obstacles, the trials and the pain.

"For all those people who just 'do the church thing' just to say they do it, and for all those who are serving God but find it hard to get over the hurdles and bumps in the road, "Where Is God on Tuesday" is for you. Ministry is not always a pretty little picture, it's hard, sweaty, dirty work with amazing, life-changing, world-altering results... if you stick with it. It's done with love in mind, just like Jesus would do. Thanks, Marlene, for sharing your heart and what God has put in you to do - for love. God commands us to love the unlovable." ~~ Pastor Bill Wilson, Founder and Senior Pastor Metro Ministries Brooklyn, New York
